Water Tank Installation Bracken Ridge

North Brisbane gets around 1,500mm of rain a year — most of it falling in a few months of intense summer storms. A properly installed rainwater tank captures that water and connects it to your toilets, laundry, and garden, cutting your mains water bill noticeably. We handle the full installation with licensed plumbing and compliance certification included.

Make the Most of North Brisbane's Rainfall — With the Right Tank Setup

Bracken Ridge and surrounding suburbs like Bridgeman Downs, Carseldine, and Sandgate sit on generous block sizes compared to inner-city Brisbane — which means more usable space for tanks and more roof area to collect from. A correctly sized tank connected to your toilets and laundry can realistically cut your mains water use by 30–40%, and with Brisbane's rainfall pattern, it stays topped up through most of the year.

The catch: an outdoor tap connection you can do yourself. The toilet and laundry connections are licensed plumbing work, and they need to be done right to keep rainwater and town water completely separated. We handle that part — from selecting the tank size and type through to the full plumbing install with compliance certification.

We'll also advise on the current Brisbane City Council rebate position, tank positioning for optimal catchment, and what size system makes sense for your actual roof area and usage.

Where Rainwater Gets Used in a Typical North Brisbane Home

Toilets and laundry together make up about a third of household water use — a well-connected tank puts a real dent in your bills.

Toilet Flushing

Typically 20–25% of household water use. Requires a licensed connection with appropriate backflow protection.

Laundry

Washing machines use approximately 10–15% of household water. Rainwater connection requires a licensed plumber.

Garden & Irrigation

Outdoor watering, irrigation systems and garden hoses. Connect directly or via pump — no licensed plumber required for outdoor-only use.

Outdoor Taps & Car Wash

Outdoor tap connections for car washing, pathway and driveway cleaning, filling pools and general outdoor use.

Indoor connections require a licensed plumber

Rainwater used for toilets and laundry must be plumbed in correctly with proper cross-connection controls to prevent rainwater from mixing with or contaminating the town water supply. This work requires a licensed plumber and a compliance certificate. All our indoor connections are certified to Queensland standards.

What a Full Rainwater Tank Installation Involves

Five steps from assessment to handover — here's exactly what we do.

1

Site Assessment & Sizing

We assess your roof catchment area, available installation space, and what you want to use the rainwater for. From this we recommend the right tank size and type — whether a standard poly tank, slimline, underdeck, or bladder tank — to match your property and goals.

2

Stable Base Preparation

A full tank can weigh several tonnes. We confirm the base is appropriate — concrete slab, compacted gravel pad or a purpose-built stand — and position the tank in the right location close to the main downpipe and supply area.

3

Inlet, Outlet & First-Flush Diverter

We connect the downpipe to the tank inlet and install a first-flush diverter — a device that discards the first dirty water off the roof before it enters the tank, keeping your water clean. Tank overflow is also connected to drain safely away from the property.

4

Pump & Filtration Setup

Most indoor connections require a pressure pump to maintain adequate flow. We select and install an appropriate pump and any filtration required, and connect the supply line to your plumbing system. A backflow prevention device is installed where the system connects to town water (for backup supply).

5

Test, Certify & Customer Handover

We test the full system before we leave — inlet, pump, all connections and overflow. We issue a compliance certificate for the plumbing work, and walk you through how the system operates, how to maintain it and what to check periodically.
